Pixel Workers

A public roll call

Your job changed. You use these tools now.

Most of us do, most days. What hasn’t changed is that someone still has to decide whether the thing is any good before it goes out.

Pixel Workers is a place to say publicly that you’re one of those people, and to argue for something specific: that the public should hold a real ownership stake in the companies building this technology. Not a ban. A share.

What we do

Two things, and only two.

  • Educate

Plain explanations of what AI actually does and how it actually works. No doom, no awe. Read the explainers.

  • Advocate

We argue for substantial ownership stakes in the frontier AI companies held by the US federal government, and for state-level stakes alongside it. The argument, stated once, is here.

Who joins

People in code, design, video, photography, illustration, motion, writing for screen and audio, whose work changed because of AI and who use these tools in it. You are not listed to get hired. You are listed to be counted and named.

Signing up is the whole commitment: to keep taste and human involvement in what you publish. The directory is self-selected, and we never imply it is vetted.
